Ontario moves into Step 2 as of 12:01am Wednesday, June 30th!

As we've all been eagerly awaiting, the government announced the move to Step 2 this morning:

  • "Outdoor sports without contact or modified to avoid contact, with no specified limit on number of people or teams participating, with restrictions;

  • Outdoor sport facilities with spectators permitted at 25 per cent capacity;

  • The facility must actively screen individuals who participate in team sports before they enter the facility;"

What this means for Baseball Ontario:

  • Scrimmages and games can resume on Wednesday.

  • There are no restrictions on league size.

  • Baseball Ontario's approved Return to Sport Protocols must be implemented and followed including:

  • Active prescreening must be completed

  • (

  • Attendance tracking must be done for every event. Records for tracking done outside of the Baseball Ontario ONDeck app must be kept for a minimum of 30 days.

  • Spectators:

  • where a facility has an area designated for spectator seating, the total number of spectators cannot exceed 25 per cent of the usual seating capacity (for example, a stadium); and where there is no designated seating, spectators must be able to maintain a physical distance of 2 metres from every other spectator.

Please note, Reopening is subject to implementation by each individual Public Health Unit. Please check with your local public health unit to verify any restrictions or conditions they might have. This announcement means that for August Madness, we will follow Plan A in the document, with no rest period between rounds required. We will continue to monitor the Reopening plan for even more opportunities for competition in the 2021 season.
