Brampton Royals 16u Win Ontario Provicial Championship

Brampton Royals 16u Win

Ontario Provicial Championship

The Minor Midget 16u Brampton Royals came into Labour Day weekend with great determination and one goal, to leave being the best team in Ontario.

The Royals once again depended on their strong starting pitching, getting outstanding efforts from Vinny Bonhome, Alex Emerson, two huge wins from team ace Alan Plunkett (including a semi-final win to get to the finals) and an excellent complete game in the finals by Josh Rousseau. With the team's pitching providing an opportunity to win each game this weekend, the team was able to get key contributions at the plate by the entire lineup leading to a 4-1 record this weekend on their way to being named the Ontario Baseball Association Provincial Champions!

It seemed that every game someone new stepped up and came up clutch, including the teams leader Matthew Pigat hitting a bases clearing double down 3-2 in the finals to the Etobicoke Rangers in 6th inning to take a 6-3 lead. A lead they never relinquished, eventually winning 8-3. The boys played and worked hard all year, starting last September in fall ball and the coaching staff couldn't be prouder of their ability to work as a team and everything the boys accomplished on the field.
